Foliage season scenery is simply incomparable – with vibrant color splashed across the hillsides. 

Winter brings cold, crisp mountain air and what seems to be a perpetual blanket of fluffy, white snow. In the spring and summertime, our gardens can only be described as a vision of creativity and vivid color planted with skill and a vast knowledge of horticulture. The 19th century farmhouse and attached horse barn were converted to an Inn by Jack and Doreen Simko and daughter Anne Marie DeFreest in 1986. Anne Marie now runs the inn with partner, Tim Piper, and their dedicated staff.

The adjacent Round Barn, built in 1910, was beautifully restored between 1988 and 1990, and, instead of cows, the Barn now hosts magical Vermont weddings, wedding receptions, concerts, art exhibits, and other events, such as business conferences, executive retreats and family reunions. A balance of social and cultural events fill the historic building with life year-round.

The Round Barn Farm has proudly been accepted into the Green Hotel Association, by the Vermont Business Environmental Partnership, a joint program of the Environmental Assistance Office and the Vermont Small Business Development Center....designed to encourage the hospitality and lodging industry to promote and use environmentally sound products and practices.

In fact, our Vermont bed and breakfast was recognized this year at the Governor Awards for showing an outstanding commitment to the environment and for keeping Vermont clean. We have instituted a comprehensive environmental management plan for recycling, linen reuse and promoting a ‘green’ way of life. We are dedicated to conserving Vermont's resources and beauty.

As a founding member of the Vermont Fresh Network we are serious about supporting local agriculture. All of our purchasing is done with the intention to buy local, reducing transportation time and pollution, and insuring that we provide the best products Vermont has to offer. Our partnerships with local farmers and producers allow us to bring the freshest produce, dairy and meats to The Round Barn Farm. VFN maintains the Vermont landscape by helping to keep Vermont farms in production and encouraging partnerships between farmers and restaurants.

We are proud that our Vermont Inn is a distinguished member of the Select Registry, an organization that carries out a quality assurance inspection for each of its 400 member properties by an independent inspector.

The Round Barn Farm is also a founding member of the Vermont Association of Wedding Professionals. Our committed network of Vermont wedding professionals work together to enhance the destination wedding experience for our bride and grooms, their friends and families.
